An unexpected reunion between estranged sisters, one is on the verge of marriage; the other is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Both struggle with truths they're hiding from each other - and from themselves. Jenny has rejected her tumultuous family and cut off communication, seeking a more ordered life far from her roots in the Bronx. And she's almost ready to commit to her longtime fiancé when her sister Lucy - the personification of all that Jenny has been trying to flee - surprises her at a critical time. Lucy and Jenny's combustible reunion brings both of them to unforeseen places, shattering and reconstructing the worlds they have both carefully constructed. -- (C) Dada

Reviews for Union Square
Slant Magazine
Nancy Savoca's Union Square begins in caricature and ends in sentimentality, only briefly hitting the sweet spot in between. Starring Mira Sorvino as frazzled Bronx girl Lucy, the film begins by introducing us to this character...

Reel Film Reviews
Well intentioned yet ultimately underwhelming, Union Square follows Mira Sorvino's brash, loudmouthed Lucy as she arrives at her comparatively uptight sister's (Tammy Blanchard's Jenny) apartment to stay for a few days.
Christian Science Monitor
Mira Sorvino is very good – too good -- at playing a very annoying person in Nancy Savoca’s “Union Square,” a nattery low-budget indie film that does not abide by the "silence is golden" rule.

The A.V. Club
A woman walks down the streets of New York, wearing loud clothing and screaming obscenities. Is she mentally ill, or just a fashion victim having an argument on a cell phone? That’s the sense of uncertainty director Nancy Savoca and her co-writer...

New York Post
You know this person: the woman with the streaky mascara and bad highlights, having a screaming cellphone meltdown in a public place. Mira Sorvino’s Lucy is down from The Bronx for the day, and it’s not going well.
